New Stryker Lab Data Space on Keck

We now have a 3Tb RAID5 array for secure data storage on keck (built on 4 Tb of disks).

With ssh onto keck (from any platform), you see the new disk as /net/stryker, and you can write to files in keck:/net/stryker/idl if you are logged in as idl in the stryker_lab group.

With Windows or by using Samba on Macs or linux, the disk that you can mount this disk using the name \\keckme64\stryker , and then you can read and write in the idl folder within this disk.

you can browse in
My Network Places
  Entire Network
    Microsoft Windows Network
      Keck-center
        Keckme64

and see a folder called stryker and within stryker the folder idl
The browsing function may require that you set a WINS server in your network TCP/IP properties setup.
Use 128.218.64.200 (the normal keck IP address) as the WINS server, if you need it.

You don't really have to browse, since you can use "Map Network Drive" instead.
Keckme64 is 128.218.64.241 so that you can also
Map Network Drive to \\keckme64\stryker
or else
Map Network Drive to \\128.218.64.241\stryker
You will probably have to do it with this numerical address from the 6th floor or if you are not on the keck center 64 subnet.

In all normal cases, please confine your reading and writing to the idl folder within stryker.  If you are logged in as idl with the normal long password, you will be able to create new subfolders and read and write at will within the idl folder.

PLEASE DO NOT PUT LARGE DATA FILES IN YOUR KECK HOME DIRECTORIES--USE THE NEW RAID ARRAY INSTEAD.
