In the photo above a yellow trail marks the path of a
monkey's eyes as he viewed my face. Somehow he built up a
representation of me in his head. Is that process a slow process or
is it episodic? In a real interview (i.e. face to face as opposed to
face to photo) how might he integrate the various sensations he
experiences- a nervous smile, a laugh? I am interested in how a brain fabricates a representation of the world by merging the senses. I am also interested in how a brain changes as a function of its experience, that is, as we grow and hopefully learn.
Interests
functional organization of long-range horizontal connections in sensory cortices
temporal and spatial integration of associative cortical feedback
how temporal processing constraints of cortex shape perception
how temporal processing deficits arise in the reading impaired
